My almond nut butter looking very tasty
My preference is to use almonds in my nut butter, I find it has a great taste by itself but also pairs well with some more flavours and it so great for your health, check out The Positive Health Benefits Almonds Have On Your Body for more information.
You will see below in how to make almond butter that oil is optional. I personally don’t use it as I find as the nuts warm up in the food processor they begin to a little secrete oil . However, if you are used to the store bought varieties maybe try a little bit for your first few batches achieve the same consistency. Otherwise, another option is to roast your own nuts if you check back in soon I will put up how I roast nuts.

Ingredients
- 1-2 cups of almonds. I find my in food processor 1.5 cups works best and it usually fits in a normal sized jar perfectly.
- Optional : 1-2 tablespoons neutral, light tasting or flavor-complimenting oil, (If you have picked up roasted nuts those babies are already covered in oil)
If you don’t have Buy Me a Pie! app installed you’ll see the list with ingredients right after downloading it
Instructions
- Add your choose nuts to the food processor.
- Grind to a fine powder (2-8 minutes, or so), at this time, you may want to add some oil. I personally don’t recommend it, but if you like it thinner go ahead. Continue processing until it becomes smooth and creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl every minute or two
- Continue processing – the nut’s oils are released as the mixture continues to warm, .You might find some types of nuts (I found it with peanuts) start to ball up just keep scrapping it down and keep going up until you have a smooth consistency .
- it should turn creamy and smooth and move around very easily inside the bowl of your processor. It may take up to 15-20 minutes until it is totally creamy, this depends on the strength and size of your food processor and how many nuts you are processing. Be patient. Check out the photo below for approx timing.
- If you want to add salt and/or a sweetener, do so at the very end.
Notes
- Using a Food Processor is a must, you need the consistent speed of a food processor to break down the nuts and have them release their natural oil
