Almonds and almond butter are nutritional powerhouses that contain significant amounts of protein, calcium, fibre, magnesium, folic acid, potassium, and vitamin E.
Find out below the positive health benefits almonds has on your body and some of my favorite recipes using almonds
Fats
However, the number one health benefit of almond butter is that it is great for your heart.
It has extremely low saturated fat content, no trans-fat, and is rich in monounsaturated fats which are the type of fats that help, reduce levels of cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart diseases.
Recipe Idea!
You don’t just have to have almonds whole or a butter, you can also have them as a milk!
Check out this peanut butter smoothie with almond milk. It is sugar-free and tastes just like a Reese Peanut Butter cup!
Note: You just need to be careful, if the almond milk is not stored correctly or left in the fridge for more than 3-4 days it can spoil.
Blood Sugar
Almond butter can even help control levels of blood sugar in your body by reducing the sudden increase in blood sugar and insulin which usually happens after you eat a carbohydrate-packed meal.
Research published by the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism revealed that a breakfast containing almonds can aid in stabilizing blood sugar levels for the rest of the day.
You might notice that when your blood sugar is steady you will have more energy and are less likely to give in to food cravings.

One of my favourite breakfasts, almond butter with blueberries and banana
Protein
Many people think of almonds as a high protein snack and with 6g of protein per serving (23 almonds, which equals 1 ounce, ¼ cup or about 1 handful). they’re a great addition to your snack time.
Even though they contain 6 g of protein, they should be treated more like a source of fat since they contain 14g of fat per serving, don’t fear its a good fat.
Biotin
A serving of almonds (23 almonds, which equals 1 ounce, ¼ cup or about 1 handful) contain 49 percent of your recommended daily intake of biotin.
Biotin is thought to be a great vitamin for supporting hair, skin, and nail health. So if your looking to grow out your hair or get yourself some cat-like talons look no further than almonds!
Another one of my favourite ways to snack on nut butter
Vitamin E
Not only are almonds rich in biotin they’re also loaded with vitamin E; One serving contains 40% of your RDA (recommended daily intake).
Antioxidants fight free radicals — particles that cause damage to your body at a cellular and even genetic level. Antioxidants fight these free radicals in order to prevent this damage and promote a healthier you!
Manganese
This elemental mineral is essential, but getting too much or too little can be extremely bad for your health.
This is why almonds are a good source of manganese, you get enough but not too much.
The manganese in almonds and almond butter will benefit your health in a few different areas:
bone health
joint health
metabolism
wound healing
antioxidant function
You may have read it in every healthy snack list going around but almonds are one of the ultimate healthy snack food, know you have the knowledge of why they benefit you!
